Brainspotting is a powerful, brain-based therapy that helps you access and process deep trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain. Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting works with your brain's natural ability to heal itself.
Oakland Brainspotting Therapy specializes in this evidence-based approach that uses your visual field to locate and process sources of emotional and physical distress. By identifying specific eye positions (called "brainspots"), we can access the parts of your brain where trauma is stored and help your nervous system release what's been held.
How Brainspotting Works
During a Brainspotting session, your therapist guides you to find eye positions that connect to your emotional or physical experience. While maintaining this eye position, you're supported in processing what comes up - whether that's memories, emotions, or body sensations. This allows your brain to work through trauma at a deep, subcortical level.
